BU Student Sues Warren Dining Hall for Permanent Hearing Loss

By Lila Sverdrup

On March 19th, 2024, student Linus Gall (CGS ‘26) filed a lawsuit against Warren Dining for causing noise-induced permanent hearing loss. The Fresh Food Company has been reported to play music at inhumane decibel levels in the hours between 9 am through 12 pm. This offense was reported to occur on several days throughout February and March. A series of student testimonies has been collected.

“It has been long since Warren dining staff blasted that sucker as if it were a rave but that doesn’t mean damage wasn’t done. And by this, I mean permanent hearing damage,” remarks the victim's friend who asked to remain anonymous.

Gall is not taking any personal statements from reporters at the time, but statements of the witnesses of the incident have been recorded.

Orrell Dwain (SAR ‘26) tells reporters: “I told him he was gonna get hearing damage sitting in that same booth every day right behind that goddamn speaker. He knew what he was doing, or he’s just real bad at listening…wait…”

Another student comments “Oh, you’re asking about that weird kid who sat right by the speaker every morning?… he got what he had coming to him.” Nora Jones (CGS ‘25)

Students report that Warren first started turning down its speaker volume after Gall initiated the lawsuit. A side suit for sexual harassment has also been filed. Students report that audio pornography was played on the morning of March 20th. Student testimonies, again, were collected.

“I threw up.” Ela Ponce (COM ‘25)

Another student, Freddy Snieder (ENG ‘24), reports: “I quite liked it actually, nothing like ‘EuUuH, Daddy!’ to brighten up my Thursday morning as I jab at my chalk eggs.”

Investigations of the incident will continue to uncover who is responsible for this offense.

Rumors are currently spreading that Gall sat by the speaker every day to intentionally get hearing loss so he could get money to pay his tuition with this lawsuit. Despite the validity of this rumor, Warren Dining’s cacophony had an effect, not just on Gall, but on the entirety of the BU community who eats in Warren dining between the specific hours of 9 am to 12 pm.
