Entire Discussion Section Uses Bomb Threat as Excuse for Skipping Class

CUMMINGTON STREET—At 1:00 p.m. on September 5th, the second day of classes, a bomb scare at the MATCH Charter School on Babcock Street disrupted the peace on BU Campus. Students in Professor Lapets’s Algebraic Algorithms class were able to put a silver lining on the situation.“The discussion meets at 5:00 p.m. and I wasn’t really planning on going anyway. It seemed like a good alibi for me to use,” Said one unnamed student, a senior who spent the evening at T’s Pub despite receiving a second BU Alert dismissing the threat only an hour after initially hearing about it. “When I asked my friends what I missed, I found out that they all did the same thing.“The discussion, which is held in the basement of the Math and Computer Science Building, started on time yesterday despite an attendance of one student. Bunion reporters spoke with Jeffrey the TF about the events that followed. "Any questions about what we went over yesterday in lecture?” Jeffrey asked, referring to the introductory lecture from the day before. A 10 second silence followed, after which Jeffrey began discussing the syllabus and mentioning topics that the students would be learning about later on in the semester. 15 minutes later, the discussion ended shortly after the student stepped out to use the bathroom and never came back.
